2015-16 NBA Midseason Update – Southwest Division

We just finished up All-Star Weekend. It’s the perfect time to check in on every team and look back at our preseason previews to see how we did. Today we look at the Southwest Division.

HOUSTON_ROCKETS_LOGOHouston Rockets

 

Current Record: 27-28

 

Projected Record: 40-41

 

Preseason Projection: 51-31

 

Biggest Surprise:

Dwight Howard has been relatively healthy.

Biggest Disappointment:

Ty Lawson has given Houston nothing and he might get traded.

Current Record: 31-22

 

Projected Record: 48-34

 

Preseason Projection: 48-34

 

Biggest Surprise:

Matt Barnes, who they got for nothing, has given them some good minutes

Biggest Disappointment:

Jeff Green, who’s moved into the starting lineup at the 4, still isn’t very good.

Current Record: 45-8

 

Projected Record: 70-12

 

Preseason Projection: 56-26

 

Biggest Surprise:

Kawhi Leonard has gotten even better and is now one of the top three point shooters in the NBA.

Biggest Disappointment:

Tim Duncan’s age seems to be getting to him. He’s averaging less than 10 points per game this year.

 

DALLAS_MAVERICKS_LOGODallas Mavericks

 

Current Record: 29-26

 

Projected Record: 43-39

 

Preseason Projection: 33-49

 

Biggest Surprise:

Raymond Felton is back as a productive NBA player.

Biggest Disappointment:

Chandler Parsons might still be feeling the effects of injury as his scoring is down this year.

Projected Record: 31-51

 

Preseason Projection: 43-39

 

Biggest Surprise:

Ryan Anderson has regained his shooting stroke and scoring 3 more points per game this season.

Biggest Disappointment:

Omer Asik is basically a zero now for New Orleans
