2015 MLB Season in Review – Arizona Diamondbacks

DBACKS_LOGO2015 Record: 79-83

Preseason Projection: 73-89

Runs Per Game: 4.44 (8th)

Team ERA: 4.04 (16th)

Run Differential: +7 (15th)

What Went Right:

PAUL_GOLDSCHMIDT_DIAMONDBACKSPaul Goldschmidt finished second in the NL MVP voting. He’s undoubtedly one of the best players in baseball now. Not too many noticed but A.J. Pollock joined Goldschmidt as one of the top NL performers. David Peralta and the recently traded Ender Inciarte were also very solid last year.

What Went Wrong:

The starting pitching wasn’t good. Their best starter was rookie Robbie Ray. He finished 5-12 with a 3.52 ERA. Shortstop Chris Owings couldn’t hit at all.

Player to Watch?:

Yasmany Tomas, Arizona’s big signing last offseason, had a horrible start to his career. He spent a good amount of time in AA last year too.

There’s Always Next Year:

The offense was great last year and they should be bringing everyone back. Yasmany Tomas should be better. Patrick Corbin will be available the whole year. Oh, and they acquired Zack Greinke and Shelby Miller this offseason. They seem like a legit contender next season.

How Did We Do:

The Diamondbacks hovered around .500 all year. We thought they would be a little worse than that. Six games off isn’t too bad.
