The Colts are a hot pick to win the AFC. I understand why. There’s not much turnover from an 11 win team and Andrew Luck is only getting better. There are some reasons to be worried though. Andre Johnson and Frank Gore may make the Hall of Fame someday but they’re old now. They were both still productive last year but it would not be surprising if one or both of them stopped playing well. In that case, Luck and T.Y. Hilton would have to completely carry the offense. The offensive line is still below average and they won’t get much out of the running game even if Gore is still good. Still, Andrew Luck is just so ridiculously good that they’ll score a lot of points.
The defense lacks talent but good coaching has prevented them from being truly awful. The lack of talent has been exposed in the playoffs the last couple of years though. They haven’t fixed the issue and it might be their undoing once again. The Colts play in the worst division in the NFL and will have a really easy schedule. They might not be that good but they still might finish with the best record in the AFC.
