2014 Offense: 17.3 PTS/G (29th)
2014 Defense: 25.6 PTS/G (25th)
Key Additions: Chris Conte (S), Sterling Moore (CB)
Key Losses: Michael Johnson (DE), Mason Foster (LB), Dashon Goldson (S) Anthony Collins (OT)
Top Three Draft Picks: Jameis Winston (QB), Donovan Smith (OT), Ali Marpet (G)
This team sucked last year. The only way they will get better is if Jameis Winston plays like a true number one pick. By true number one pick we mean like Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck not JaMarcus Russell. And he can’t get hurt like Sam Bradford. It’s likely he’ll be somewhere in the middle between Andrew Luck and JaMarcus Russell. He’ll probably be more Alex Smith than Manning or Luck and that means more losing in Tampa.
Lovie Smith’s defense could be good but the team won’t. They had a lot of defensive talent last year yet they still gave up a bunch of points. Gerald McCoy and Lavonte David are among the best at their positions but that wasn’t enough to make the Bucs even an average defensive team. Even if the defense improves, they won’t win many more games without good quarterback play.
