Nobody should expect Hollywood to have an original idea, especially when it comes to big budget summer releases, otherwise known as “tent-poles”. Well apparently one of Warner Bros. Pictures’ tent-poles for the summer of 2016 is another adaptation of Tarzan. I didn’t even know this movie existed. Does anyone else care?
The new film will be directed by David Yates, best known for directing the last four Harry Potter movies. The cast includes Samuel L. Jackson, Christoph Waltz, Djimon Hounsou, and Margot Robbie (she’s so hot right now). That’s quite a cast. I’m a little more intrigued now.
Who’s playing Tarzan though? The lead role in the movie will be played by Alexander Skarsgård. You might recognize Skarsgård from True Blood or the HBO miniseries Generation Kill but his best role will always be Meekus from Zoolander.
Maybe the movie won’t be too bad. I just don’t see it being a hit. The last time Hollywood tried to adapt an Edgar Rice Burroughs work starring a TV star it resulted in one of the worst flops in history, John Carter. Watch the trailer to see if you’re interested.
