You Know It’s Going Bad For A Team When Players Start To Fight….Each Other.

The Oakland Athletics aren’t having a good season and on Friday things got worse. A’s designated hitter, Billy Butler, got in a fight with teammate, Danny Valencia. According to reports Danny Valencia was in the middle of talking to his equipment rep when Billy Butler came in and said they should cancel his contract because he uses spikes that aren’t from his endorsers. After the equipment rep left Danny Valencia ran over to Butler and said ” Don’t you ever loud-talk me in front of a rep.” Butler responded with ” I can say whatever I want, and your bitchass isn’t going to do anything about it.” Shortly after that Valencia punched the 10 year veteran right in the temple, which according to reports has left Butler with a concussion.

Butler and Valencia have both been fined an undisclosed amount by the team. Butler and Valencia have not spoken since the incident took place. Valencia has said since then that he still has a lot of respect for Butler, and hopes Butler still has some respect for him. With how things went down it’s clear that Butler wasn’t too fond of Valencia to begin with, so I find it hard to believe there’s mutual respect here. The manager said he isn’t concerned with the situation, and A’s catcher, Stephen Vogt, says this happens in every clubhouse. That’s what makes sports so exciting, because you truly never know what’s going on behind closed doors!
