There seems to be at least one team every year that makes a huge jump in the standings. The Cubs might be the team best equipped to do that. Jon Lester and Jason Hammel were signed to join Jake Arrieta at the top of the rotation. Montero and Fowler are solid players who will contribute to the Cubs lineup. Jorge Soler, Javier Baez, and eventually Kris Bryant join young stars, Starlin Castro and Anthony Rizzo. The Cubs have potentially the best offense in the National League if the young kids play well.
The Cubs additions through free agency and the minor leagues combined with the fact they lost no major players means the Cubs should improve quite a bit this season. Thier new manager, former Rays manager Joe Maddon, should help as well.
Player to Watch: Javier Baez
Baez struggled in his limited time in the majors last year but showed off his power a few times.
