NFL Power Rankings – Week 8

There’s one less undefeated team, now eight weeks into the season. Did the Packers fall after their first loss of the season or are they still one of our top teams?

    1. New England Patriots (7-0)

    2. Cincinnati Bengals (7-0)

    3. Denver Broncos (7-0)

    4. Green Bay Packers (6-1)

    5. Carolina Panthers (7-0)

    6. Arizona Cardinals (6-2)

    7. Seattle Seahawks (4-4)

    8. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-4)

    9. Atlanta Falcons (6-2)

    10. New York Jets (4-3)

    11. Minnesota Vikings (5-2)

    12. St. Louis Rams (4-3)

    13. Oakland Raiders (4-3)

    14. Philadelphia Eagles (3-4)

Philadelphia has been a disappointment in Chip Kelly’s third year as head coach but they’re still only a half game out of the playoffs. The running game struggled at the start but has come on as of late. Sam Bradford has not been an improvement over Nick Foles (or Mark Sanchez). He’s already thrown ten interceptions this year.JORDAN_MATTHEWS_EAGLES

It’s actually Chip Kelly’s defense that’s keeping them in the playoff race. Even at the high pace they play, they’re 11th in points allowed. The defense is solid. If they can figure out how to score more they should win the NFC East.

    15. New Orleans Saints (4-4)

    16. Miami Dolphins (3-4) MIAMI_DOLPHINS_2015

The Dolphins have had an up and down season. After winning on opening day they lost three straight and fired their coach. In the new coach’s first two games they blew out their opponents. They were getting some playoff buzz. Then last Thursday they got destroyed by New England.  They have a shot at a wild card but they’re not a real threat to the Patriots.

    17. New York Giants (4-4)

    18. Indianapolis Colts (3-5)

    19. Kansas City Chiefs (3-5)

    20. Buffalo Bills (3-4)

    21. Washington Redskins (3-4)

    22. Baltimore Ravens (2-6)

    23. San Diego Chargers (2-6)

    24. Dallas Cowboys (2-5)

    25. Cleveland Browns (2-6)JOHNNY_MANZIEL_BROWNS

The Browns have a new quarterback and he hasn’t been half bad. The Brown as a whole have been fully bad, unsurprisingly. The Josh McCown led offense has had some nice performances, including 23 points against Denver. But now McCown is hurt again, which means…

The defense still sucks, especially the run defense. It’s hard to stop anyone when you’re giving up 4.8 yards per carry. Another season without a playoff appearance for Cleveland.

    26. Chicago Bears (2-5)

    27. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-4)

    28. Houston Texans (3-5)

    29. Detroit Lions (1-7)

    30. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-5)

BLAKE_BORTLES_JAGUARSThe Jaguars still suck. Are you surprised? Blake Bortles has been much better but he’s still not great. The receiving Allens, Hurns and Robinson, have has nice second seasons. The defense is still a disaster. Jacksonville is looking at another top five pick.

    31. San Francisco 49ers (2-6)

    32. Tennessee Titans (1-6)

Tony’s Top Five

Top 5 Week 8 Injuries

  1. Le’Veon Bell
  2. Keenan Allen
  3. Steve Smith
  4. Cameron Wake
  5. Colin Kaepernick (He’s not starting this week. He must be injured, right?)

Tony’s Thursday Night Pick

Johnny Football in prime time. Bengals vs. Browns. This is what we’ve all been waiting for. This should make for great TV. Or not. Manziel is a backup and maybe not even a good one. The Browns only chance would be for McCown to get hot. Now that he’s out, the undefeated Bengals should smash the Browns at home.

The Pick: Bengals -11
