I don’t know if you’ve been online in the past month or so but exploding phones are the talk of the town. A Samsung Galaxy Note exploded here, this kids iPhone was smoking there… The media is making it sound like any old phone is going to explode, as long as it’s in your hands.
The fact of the matter is, if you do have a Galaxy Note 7 it probably will explode if it hasn’t already. Send that shit out, they even send you a fireproof box to ship it in… But anyone else, the odds of your phone catching fire from the battery are very, very slim.
If you’re one of the unlucky few who had the Note and are looking for a new phone; you are probably thinking about switching to the new Google Pixel. Well, most of you are… not many droid owners are fond of Apple or the iPhone. Somewhere, Google is sitting back and clapping. It’s like the scene in The Wedding Singer, when Adam Sandler stops singing and Jon Lovitz is reaping all the benefits… (deep pull but completely spot on).
Samsung will notice a dip in sales thanks to this mishap with not only the original Note 7s but also the replacement phones. But it will be no means cripple the tech giant. Google was projecting to sell 4 million Pixel phones by years end. But with clouds forming over Samsung’s flagship Phablet, that number could rise.
