Peyton Manning retired from the NFL today after an incredible 18 year career. One NFL player didn’t want Manning to have the whole day be about him.
DeAngelo Williams of the Pittsburgh Steelers came out today and said “Look Peyton is a hall of fame qb who couldn’t play dead in a western last year but career over all is astonishing but last year was shit.” Basically Williams is acknowledging the fact that Manning is a great quarterback, but basically shit on his parade today saying that he played terrible last season. Steelers head coach, Mike Tomlin, quickly jumped in and told Williams on twitter to “quit while he was behind.”
I understand that Williams wanted to express his opinions about Manning’s season, but come on! Let the guy have his moment. He had a phenomenal 18 year career and no one should try to take that away from him. It sounds to me that someone is just bitter that he was eliminated by Manning in the playoffs. At the end of the day Manning had a hall of fame career and won the Super Bowl this season. Sorry DeAngelo, but Manning is still having the last laugh.
