Round 2 Of The Madness

So far in the first round we’ve had a couple upsets, the biggest being Middle Tennessee State defeating Michigan State. We were doing pretty well on our bracket until that game. In the 2nd round and beyond we’re here to help win you back some money for your brackets getting “busted”.

Wichita State Vs Miami

Wichita State had to win a game to even get into the tournament and they’re proving to the world that this is where they belong. They defeated Vanderbilt by 20 and then dominated Arizona from start to finish. On the other side we have Miami. Miami has looked very strong but kinda hand their hands full vs Buffalo. This should be a very good physical game, but I’am going to give the edge to Miami because of the conference comparison.

The Pick: Miami +2.5

Yale Vs Duke

Yale ruined a lot of people’s bracket when they defeated Baylor. Duke had a rough first half against their opponent but came out strong in the second half for a fairly easy victory. This would be a very good academic contest, but unfortunately I don’t think this is going to be that great of a basketball game. Duke is better than most people think and I believe they have a good shot to find themselves in at least the elite 8 this season. Take Duke in this one.

The Pick: Duke -6

Indiana Vs Kentucky

Indiana and Kentucky both dominated their first round opponents and have set up what should be a great game. Kentucky was the story of the tournament last season when they were still undefeated at this point of the season, but this year’s been different. They have a very young team but their freshmen are starting to play well at the right time. Kentucky is one of those sleepers teams that I could see finding themselves in another Final Four. Take Kentucky in this game and then expect them to put up a good battle against North Carolina in the Sweet 16.

The Pick: Kentucky -3

Arkansas Little Rock Vs Iowa State

Little Rock is now a Cinderella team after knocking off #5 seed Purdue in the first round. Little Rock plays with a lot of energy and it’s led by their first year coach, Chris Beard. Beard has this team playing very well and has them very inspired. Iowa State is a good team, but I really believe Little Rock will give them a lot of trouble. I’am not sure if Little Rock can win this game but they’ll definitely bring this game down to the final couple possessions.

The Pick: Little Rock +6.5

Butler Vs Virginia

Virginia could arguably be the best team left in the tournament because of their defense. This team plays some of, if not, the best defense in all of college. A team like Butler depends a lot on their sharp shooter, Kellen Dunham, and with Virginia’s good defense it may be tough for him to find open shots. Virginia will be too much for Butler in this game. Expect a double digit victory by the Cavaliers.

The Pick: Virginia -7.5

UCONN Vs Kansas

Kansas ended the season #1 in the nation and deserved it having the most difficult schedule in all the country. Kansas is most likely the favorite to win this tournament and I don’t see Uconn being able to prevent that from happening. Uconn has played very good tournament basketball over the past 5 years, but Kansas should have no problem against them.

The Pick: Kansas -8

Gonzaga Vs Utah

Gonzaga had high expectations going into this season and didn’t really meet them. They’re an 11 seed in the tournament, which isn’t very good at all. Utah on the other hand got to their conference finals, before being blown out by the Oregon Ducks. Utah finished 2nd in the Pac 12 this season and the Pac 12 had 7 teams in the NCAA tournament this season. Utah should have no problem beating Gonzaga, and with the spread only at 0, I would put some big bucks on the Utes.

The Pick: Utah pick em

Providence Vs North Carolina

Providence beat USC on a last second layup to advance in the tournament. North Carolina had no problem taking down Florida Gulf Coast. Providence is a very good basketball team and they’re led by all american. Kris Dunn. Unfortunately for Providence they have to face North Carolina. North Carolina is a very complete team this season and other than Kansas is the most likely favorite to win this tournament. The spread is a little high in this game, but I think with last second free throws North Carolina covers it.

The Pick: North Carolina -10
