The Return Of Football And Futbol

As we mentioned in our Hall Of Fame article the NFL is BACK! Granted it’s only pre season and we had a boring Steelers Vs Vikings game that resulted in a 14-3 Vikings victory, but I’m just glad to see it back on the TV. Another league that got back in action this past weekend was the English Premier League for soccer. It was definitely an exciting opening weekend with a handful of upsets, including last year’s champion, Chelsea, not coming out with a victory at home. Here’s a look at how some of the more popular teams in Premier League did this weekend.

It all started with Manchester United beating Tottenham 1-0 on an own goal by Kyle Walker of Tottenham.

Chelsea as huge favorites (-300) could only come out with a 2-2 draw against Swansea, and their goalie, Thibaut Courtois, showed the world how goalies can get red cards.

One of the most exciting games of the weekend came on Sunday when it took a goal in the final minutes of the game for Liverpool to come out with a 1-0 victory over Stoke City.

The biggest upset over the weekend came when West Ham United, on the road, defeated  heavy favorite Arsenal, 2-0.

It was definitely an exciting first weekend of the Premier League, which included some exciting finishes and some good upsets. I expect this is how the entire season will go.

Prediction to win the league: Manchester City
