Then There Was Four

It was a crazy weekend of March Madness. We went into the weekend with four #1 seeds left, and finished with only one. Oklahoma, Villanova, North Carolina, and Syracuse remain as the only four teams left in the tournament. Not many people are surprised to see North Carolina, Oklahoma, or Villanova, but a lot are surprised to see Syracuse still in it. It’s time for us to help you with our predictions for the Final Four.

#10 Syracuse Vs #1 North Carolina

A lot of people expected North Carolina to make it to the final four, but no one expected Syracuse to still be in it. Syracuse had been lucky early on in the tournament with their first three game being against Dayton, Middle Tennessee State, and Gonzaga. Then they faced Virginia in the elite 8 and saw themselves be down by as much as 16 early in the second half. But like every great program with a great coach they didn’t panic. They stormed back and won the game.

North Carolina has had no problem at all gettingĀ here. They’ve won easily against Florida Gulf Coast, Providence, Indiana, and now Notre Dame. Syracuse is playing their best basketball at the right time and have a lot of confidence right now, but this North Carolina team is just too good. It’s been one hell of a run for Syracuse, but it ends here.

The Winner: North Carolina

#2 Oklahoma Vs #2 Villanova

Here stands arguably the two hottest teams in the tournament. Villanova and Oklahoma have both looked very good thus far. Villanova’s defense has given teams a lot of trouble, and they’re playing all around good team basketball. Oklahoma has had their star player, Buddy Hield, live up to his expectations and is the main reason why Oklahoma is in the final four.

Oklahoma is a very good offensive team that relies heavily on the 3 pointer, which is why they can be very streaky. They’ve had instances this tournament where they get cold and have leads slip away, but then get hot again and jump back up.

Villanova will have a week to figure out how to contain Buddy Hield. If they can do so they’ll have no problem winning this game. When it comes down to it Villanova’s defense is just too good and have been playing the best basketball in the tournament so far. I believe they’ll be able to contain Buddy Hield enough to find themselves in the championship.

The Winner: Villanova
