It’s week 2. We know a little more about these teams and players now. We can make much more informed picks. And that’s what we’re doing here. Here’s our Daily Fantasy Picks for week 2.
Big Cost, Big Points – Drew Brees (NO)
The Giants pass defense played well last week but I’m not convinced they’re good yet. I am convinced that the Saints defense is awful which usually means a lot of pass attempts. This could be a shootout just like it was last week for New Orleans.
Value Play – Matt Ryan (ATL)
Ryan gets to play the Raiders, who allowed Brees to have that big day last Sunday. The Raiders secondary is real weakness on an otherwise good team. This should be another back and forth high scoring game.
Others – Carson Palmer (ARI), Derek Carr (OAK), Joe Flacco (BAL)
Palmer isn’t done yet and has a nice matchup against Tampa, Carr will find himself involved in another shootout, and Flacco is cheap and facing the Browns with a healthy team.
Big Cost, Big Points – Ezekiel Elliott (DAL)
The rookie didn’t have the best debut but he was facing a tough Giants defensive line. He’s got a much easier matchup this week and we expect a breakout performance.
Value Play – TJ Yeldon (JAC)
Chris Ivory won’t play this week, leaving Yeldon as the starter. The Chargers allowed Spencer Ware to get over 100 yds receiving (yes receiving, not rushing). They have real problems covering backs.
Others – Lamar Miller (HOU), Jeremy Hill (CIN)
Miller is a really good all around back and the chiefs had problems last week. Jeremy Hill is really cheap after a down season but he’s still the Bengals best goal line option.
Big Cost, Big Points – Julio Jones (ATL)
The Raiders don’t have bad corners, but they don’t have a standout one either. 8 catches and 100 yds is Jones’ floor this week.
Value Play – Tyrell Williams (SD)
With Keenan Allen out, Tyrell Williams, not Travis Benjamin, is the Chargers biggest receiving threat. Get him now while he’s still really cheap.
Others – Odell Beckham Jr. (NYG), Steve Smith Sr. (BAL), Tajae Sharpe (TEN)
A junior, a senior, and a rookie. The Saints lost their best corner and wouldn’t have been able to stop OBJ with him anyways, the aged Smith is still the best receiver in Baltimore, and Sharpe is already the #1 receiver for Marcus Mariota.
Big Cost, Big Points – Delanie Walker (TEN)
Notice how I said Sharpe is Mariota’s #1 receiver. Walker, at TE, is his #1 option though and the Lions aren’t great at stopping tight ends as we saw last week.
Value Play – Jermaine Gresham (ARI)
Gresham is the top receiving tight end on an elite passing team.
Others – Coby Fleener (NO)
Fleener should do more this week. Drew Brees always gets his tight ends involved.
Big Cost, Big Points – Seahawks
“Seattle has been on fire and faces Case Keenum”. That is literally what I wrote last year. Same logic applies.
Value Play – Packers
The Vikings are kind of a mess on offense and the Packers have a solid defense.
Others – Patriots
The Patriots did a great job against last year’s top offense. What will they do against one of the NFL’s worst in the Dolphins?
