Top 5 Super Bowl Games Since 2000

Everyone’s excited for next week’s Super Bowl and we’re all hoping it’s a good one. Lately it seems like all their Super Bowls are instant classics so hopefully this year continues that trend. Looking back at just the last 15 years, there were a ton of great ones. Here are our top 5 Super Bowls of the last 15 years.

5. Super Bowl XXXVI – New England Patriots Vs St. Louis Rams

We All remember this Super Bowl because it was when the Rams were the most dominant team in football, The Greatest Show on Turf”. That was until they came across a man named Tom Brady. Brady drove the underdog Patriots down the field to set up this game winning field goal that people will never forget.

4. Super Bowl XXXIV – St. Louis Rams Vs Tennessee Titans

This was the year when Kurt Warner made his presence known by leading the Rams to the Super Bowl. The Titans, led by Steve McNair and Eddie George, represented the AFC. This game was highly anticipated and didn’t disappoint. This game literally came down to the final inches.

3. Super Bowl XLVIIII – New England Patriots Vs Seattle Seahawks

Who could forget the Super Bowl that happened just last year? It was one of our Top Games of 2015. The Seahawks drove the field and had the ball at the 1 yard line with one of the best running backs in the NFL, Marshawn Lynch, ready to punch it in. It looked like a simple move to just give him the ball once or twice and make Tom Brady lose his 3rd straight Super Bowl. Instead the Seahawks had other ideas, and, well, It didn’t work out.

2. Super Bowl XLII – New England Patriots Vs New York Giants

This was the infamous year that the Patriots went 16-0 in the regular season. They had gone all the way to the Super Bowl with a record of 18-0 and looked to become the first team since the Dolphins to go a full season, including the playoffs, undefeated. It looked like the only thing that could beat the Patriots that season was a miracle. Then late into the 4th quarter Eli Manning escaped the defenders and made a miracle happen. That miracle would eventually lead to the Giants winning the Super Bowl.

1. Super Bowl XLV – Pittsburgh Steelers Vs Arizona Cardinals

The Steelers led most of the game until late in the 4th quarter when Larry Fitzgerald scored on a 65 yard touchdown giving Arizona the lead. It looked like that would kill the Steelers spirits, but then Ben Roethlisberger got the ball. He drove the Steelers down the field which eventually led to one of the greatest catches in Super Bowl history.

While this game certainly had a memorable finish, it wins our top spot for what happened at the end of the first half. You have to remember this crazy play by Pittsburgh linebacker James Harrison.
