NFL Power Rankings – Week 7

It’s been seven weeks and still five teams remain undefeated. Did all five unbeaten teams make our top five though? Where are they all ranked?

  1. New England Patriots (6-0)

  2. Green Bay Packers (6-0)

  3. Cincinnati Bengals (6-0)

  4. Carolina Panthers (6-0)

  5. Denver Broncos (6-0)

  6. Arizona Cardinals (5-2)

At times the Cardinals have looked like the best team in the league. But, they’ve also lost to Landry Jones and almost blew a big lead to the 1-6 Ravens. Carson Palmer has made this team a force on offense. Larry Fitzgerald looks like the player he was ten years ago and John Brown is becoming a star. Even Chris Johnson has looked good.

CARSON_PALMER_CARDINALSDefensively, the Cardinals have lived off the big play. They lead the league in interceptions and are tied for second in fumbles forced. They’ve also scored three touchdowns on defense, one behind Denver. This team has a really high ceiling and definitely can win the Super Bowl but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them upset in the playoffs.

  7. Seattle Seahawks (3-4)

  8. New York Jets (4-2)

  9. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-3)

The Steelers have kept the ship afloat in the 4 games without Ben Roethlisberger going 2-2. The good news for Pittsburgh is that Big Ben is expected to come back this Sunday in a huge matchup with the first place Bengals. The Steelers arguably have the best offensive players in football in Le’veon Bell and Antonio Brown and Big Ben knows how to get the most out of them.

LEVEON_BELL_STEELERSThe Steelers defense was expected to be the weak spot, but it’s actually a big reason why they went 2-2 without their QB. With the offensive weapons the Steelers have and the defense playing well, they’re one of the better teams in the league and should give the Bengals a fight for the division.

  10. Atlanta Falcons (6-1)

  11. Minnesota Vikings (4-2)

  12. St. Louis Rams (3-3)

  13. Miami Dolphins (3-3)

  14. Philadelphia Eagles (3-4)

  15. New York Giants (4-3)

  16. Indianapolis Colts (3-4)

  17. Oakland Raiders (3-3)

  18. Buffalo Bills (3-4)

  19. New Orleans Saints (3-4)

The Saints have looked awful for the most of the season but now they have two solid wins in a row. I’m not sure if they’re decent or if they’re truly an awful team. The Drew Brees led offense hasn’t been too impressive and the defense is still giving up a bunch of points and yards.

CAMERON_JORDAN_SAINTSThe key to their recent success is that they’ve forced six turnovers the last two weeks. Cameron Jordan has five sack these last two games as well. Maybe if they keep forcing turnovers and putting pressure on the quarterback they’ll finish above .500.

  20. Washington Redskins (3-4)

  21. Baltimore Ravens (1-6)

  22. Kansas City Chiefs (2-5)

  23. San Diego Chargers (2-5)

  24. Dallas Cowboys (2-4)

  25. Cleveland Browns (2-5)

  26. Chicago Bears (2-4)

  27. Houston Texans (2-5)

  28. Tennessee Titans (1-5)

  29. Detroit Lions (1-6)

  30. San Francisco 49ers (2-5)

The 49ers weren’t expected to be good this season, and they aren’t. The hype of Colin Kaepernick is long gone. He’s just not a good quarterback anymore and not someone who can take a team to the Super Bowl.

COLIN_KAEPERNICK_49ERSWhat San Francisco could always rely on the past few seasons was their defense though. That hasn’t been the case this season as they’re second worst in yards allowed. It’s going to continue to be a long season for the 49ers and if they don’t fix things soon it’s going to continue to be like this for many seasons to come.

  31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-4)

  32. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-5)

Tony’s Thursday Night Pick

We’ve got a good one tonight with the rejuvenated Miami Dolphins traveling to New England to face the undefeated Patriots. The Pats have looked great all season but Miami has looked just as good these last two weeks. Ryan Tannehil has a bunch of weapons and it looks like he’s figured out hoe to use them. The Patriots will lose at somepint this season it could be tonight. If not, I think Miami keeps it close enough.

The Pick: Dolphins +8
