Playoff preview for the Anaheim Ducks versus the Chicago Blackhawks.
Anaheim Ducks vs. Chicago Blackhawks
Who Would’ve thought the Mighty Ducks would’ve predicted this in the 1990s? Two Western Conference Powerhouse teams go head to head in this finals matchup. The Anaheim Ducks have looked dominant in their first two rounds, and the Blackhawks haven’t looked too shabby themselves. With a sweep of the Wild the Blackhawks have had a few extra days to rest and game plan for the Ducks, which they will definitely need. On one side you have puck possession. On the other side is a dominant fore check. Who will win this battle and move on to the Stanley Cup Finals?
Chicago- If the Blackhawks are going to win the need a whole lot of what they are best at, puck possession. If they can keep it away from the deep lines of Anaheim they have a chance to squeak by this team. They will also need to force the puck outside. Anaheim has a great fore check and with that comes better positioning in the offensive zone. If the Hawks can force that puck to the perimeter it will eliminate a lot of the rebounding and close to net goals the ducks have been putting in all season long.
Anaheim- If the Ducks want to make a Stanley Cup appearance, they will need to control the tempo of the game. The Ducks have grinders throughout their lineup and they need to show up in this series. Force the talent of the hawks to make hard passes, and even harder shots. This will build Andersen’s confidence as well, and he will need a lot of it when he faces Kane, Toews, and Hossa. If the Ducks can force turnovers they should be on their way to another series victory.
