Will the Cavs Defend Their Title?

The Cleveland Cavaliers are the defending NBA champs. But they aren’t the favorite to win it all this year (the Warriors with Durant are the obvious favorite). The Cavs still seem to be a very good team though. Can they possibly pull off back to back championships this season?

Cleveland started their title defense with a win over the Knicks last night. It looked quite easy for them as they won 117-88. LeBron fucked around and got a triple double. If anyone was worried about about a decline, this performance should ease their fears. The Cavs are still very motivated to win another title.

Is the talent still there though? Cleveland has issues at guard after losing Matthew Dellevadova and Mo Williams during the offseason. DeAndre Liggins backed up Kyrie and he hasn’t played in the NBA in three seasons. They’re also a very old team, with four players over the age of 35. That doesn’t even include LeBron who has to be considered an “old” player now at 31.

There’s still no doubt they’re the favorites in the East. However, their aforementioned issues might prevent them from stunning Golden State again. It’s worth seeing what LeBron can do as he just might have some surprises left in him.
